Looking Back on Knowledge Gained
It is important for health and wellness professionals to practice the exercises and meditate to gain a greater understanding of themselves. If we as professionals understand how our mind works and how to control unwanted behavior we can better teach others how to obtain the same peace. It is important for the professional to develop psychologically because they need to be emotionally stable, self-aware and have a developed consciousness in order to be understanding, compassionate and confident. Everyone can benefit from spiritual guidance but not everyone will accept the practice into their lives. Gaining more knowledge in these practices will help me as a professional to pass on the new experiences. Staying fit and working on spiritually is important to show patients it worked for you and it can work for them. Staying healthy is crucial so they don’t make their patients sick. In order to achieve this, they will need to keep up their physical hygiene, eat healthy and exercise. I will continue to practice all of the exercises and continue to get stronger in each part. I do need to work a little harder on loving kindness. It is still a difficult exercise for me, but, I will keep pushing forward with a positive attitude.
Assessing my health in each domain would be as follows. Spiritually I would say I am about an eight, I still have some work in this area. I feel a lot stronger in this area; I have accomplished so much more in this course then I could have imagined. The course has given me insight to things I only thought were dreams, I had no idea they could actually be accomplished. My physical well being would be an eight I am on a diet and exercise regimen now to lose some weight and get healthier. I feel after my last child my health went south I suffered with preeclampsia very early on. I was bed ridden by seven months and the pounds starting pilling on. Then after the pregnancy I still had blood pressure issues so I had to take it slow. This course has definitely lit a fire for me to get back what I once had. My psychological well being is about an eight I have seen a tremendous difference in the last five weeks and I am so happy to have achieved this. I am still working on controlling palpitations in my chest when I think of something upsetting my heart races and I get short of breath. I have been doing really good keeping track of when they happen and how to control them. The breathing exercises will usually do the trick. When it starts I just stop, close my eyes and breathe very deep in and out of my nose. I can feel the tension just rise out of my limbs it is great.
I am setting goals for each domain so I can strengthen my spiritual, physical, psychological well being. I am hoping to lose weight, gaining self esteem and learn to love myself more, and feeling like I am really here for a reason. I am exercising at least two more times a week, to get myself back in shape so I can feel better physically. Exercise is important to our well being without good body health you will not be able to achieve the full benefits of physical, psychological and spiritual well being. I will implement the meditation and exercises three times a day instead of two to bring more peace to my mind and body. My psychological will be a little more difficult. I have tinnitus in my ears so I have to learn new ways to embrace this problem and grow from it. It is quit difficult sometimes to concentrate on things because there is a constant buzz in my mind.
To implement these goals I have joined the YMCA and plan to work out for three hours a week. Walking on the treadmill for 45 minutes then doing some strength training. Then on another day I will take a cardio class for an hour. Then the last day I will take a class for Tai Chi or Yoga, I will take these classes to achieve better fitness. Because of my tinnitus I will benefit from the yoga and Tai Chi for balance and coordination. I will follow a diet plan from MyFitnessPal.com. It shows me what foods I need more of and what foods I need less of according to my body mass, weight, and height. According to the diet plan I need to eat less carbohydrates and sugar. My spiritual goal is to practice the meditation exercises often and continue to do more, the Tai Chi and Yoga will also help in this aspect too. Growth in the spiritual aspect is important to me, I have lost a lot of people in the past three years and I am having a hard time figuring out why. Why would someone take them out of this world when they were so loved and needed? Just something I will have to figure out on my own and grow from it. My psychological goal is to control negative thoughts and realize my full potential. I plan on setting up an appointment with my local horse therapy person at Dream Power Therapy to try out her methods once a week and see how they work for me. I will do that once a week also. The relaxation exercises will help my psychological health as they do with all of the aspects of human flourishing.
In the next six months I will be using a web site called MyFitnessPal.com I just put all of my information in and it keeps track of what I need to eat more of and lets me know if I am exercising enough. I plan on sticking with this website as it has assisted me in losing 8 pounds already. As I get stronger in my meditation I should be able to control unwanted thoughts and feelings. I will continue all of the exercises as long-term practices for health and wellness.

I am so happy to see that many of us obtained so much knowledge that will help our life's foe ever. You have done a wonderful job on the unit 9 final project, I really enjoyed reading it. It seems like we have all made a lot of progress from our time in this class or at least learned a lot about different aspects of healing. I know that I have made significant progress and I can tell from your project you have as well. I think that those of us who have learned the best lessons realize that this is only the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI have many of the same ideas. I want to lead by example and work on improving myself before I can help others. I have much to learn and work on. I hope I am able to help others and learn from them to know more about people and how I can be a positive influence on them. Great final !
